The Return of Byrne and Eno

New tour dates for David Byrne in support of his newest Brian Eno collaboration, will be announced soon, but in the meantime, let's go retro.

28 years later, the lyrics are still haunting as ever.

America is waiting for a message of some sort or another.

Takin' it again. Again! Again! Takin' it again.

Well now... no, no... now, we ought to be mad at the government not mad at the people.

Takin' it again. Again! Again! Takin' it again.

I mean, yeah, well... wha-what're ya gonna do?

America is waiting for a message of some sort or another.

No will whatsoever. No will whatsoever! Absolutely no honor.

No will whatsoever. No will whatsoever! Absolutely no integrity.

No will whatsoever. No will whatsoever! I haven't seen any any any citizen over there stand up and say "Hey, just a second."

No will whatsoever. No will whatsoever! I mean, yeah, so... wha-what're ya gonna do?

America is waiting for a message of some sort or another.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua Trailer Reaction: Family Guy Stylee

I've been watching with a mix of anticipation, fascination and disgust all the hoopla surrounding Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Considering that a) I grew up in Beverly Hills and b) my family still lives there, I have spent a lifetime slightly annoyed by the media's obsession with our little town.

But I have been very amused by the new cult of trailer reaction videos on youtube, a new genre of user generated content.

If you have not seen one before, it is defined by 2 basic tenets: 1) inclusion of a film trailer (often outrageous) 2) intermittent reaction shot of people, often absurd, watching said trailer.

The case above adds another element to it by including the characters of Stewie and Brian from the Family Guy. The result: entertaining.

Feist on Sesame Street

It really doesn't get more wonderful than this.

A song that moves in culture from the underground to mainstream culture and then beyond into the hearts of children.

I Heart Bowie

Singing the song in my head - decided to find the video. What an eyepatch. Aargh....

Then he started wearing front-butt. T-rod, check it!

Retro Iphone UGC

Just in time for the Monday after Iphone debut where I hear the final weekend rumblings of 3G wait, I turn to my favorite youtube videos from last year's debut.

Remember to all you newbies - one term: e-billing.

Chickenpants Cinema

Since November of last year, I have been CPsessed. That's short for Chickenpants obsessed, my little furry friends that I discovered one night on flickr, then bought on Etsy. 2008 has been the year of CP for me - with Seymour, Lola, Mario, Ella, MIA making cameos in my life and Edie, Henry, Tetsuo, Eli becoming a part of my friend's lives. Luckily, Claire, who created the dolls, has a sense of humor and doesn't mind that we photograph our friends with us everywhere.

She, in turn, has started creating films. Hopefully, we'll collaborate soon and join forces in CP land!

Music for Me, A Video for Another

Music is one of those yum tracks by Chemise. Video is for La Bouche.
The combination is quite funny, so off it's on.

Space is the Place

I'm not referring to the Sun Ra film, but rather that Virgin Galactic is about to unveil their latest travel contraption (their "spaceship") and there's a contest to enter if you're an Elevate member. Lucky for me, I am!

"On July 28th, one lucky Elevate member will be flown to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) where they'll be whisked away with other VIPs to this once-in-a-lifetime world premier in the Mojave Desert. Aboard the newest member of Virgin America's fleet, "My Other Ride Is a Spaceship", one Elevate member will take a historic trip linking one of the most innovative, fuel-efficient aircraft flying today with the very future of government and commercial aerospace."

All one needs to do is write in 50 words or less what would be the first thing you would do in weightlessness.

While I didn't say I would do spins, that sure looks pretty fun!

And below is the Sun Ra film, I could not resist.
